Review | Maple Holistics Shampoo & Conditioner

As you may or may not know, I was recently contacted by the haircare brand Maple Holistics. A few weeks ago they allowed me to hold a giveaway for my readers (which is now closed) to win a shampoo and conditioner set. They also allowed me to pick out a shampoo and conditioner of my choice to try. In both instances I picked the Argan Shampoo* and the Silk 18 Conditioner*. Why you may ask? They simply had a lot of very good reviews.
For those of you who are not aware of the company, I'm going to give you a quick break-down of them. Maple Holistics are a beauty brand who specialise mainly in shampoos and conditioners in the USA, although they do sell bath, body and skincare products too. The great thing about this company is the fact that their products are made from all natural ingredients and they're cruelty free too - something I appreciate so much more nowadays! And if you're unhappy with your purchase they'll either give you a full refund or you'll have the option to choose another product to try out instead - it doesn't get much better than that!
Check them out here!

So as I previously mentioned, I decided to try the Argan Shampoo and Silk 18 Conditioner. I will admit it was difficult to choose which products to try - not because of the wide range available but actually because I found the descriptions of the products on their site a little confusing. I very much appreciate when a site states which hair products are best suited for which hair type...I only found this with a couple of their products, and instead found confusing descriptions of the ingredients instead. So I made my way over to Amazon where they also seem to sell a large volume of their products, and as these two particular items appeared to be the most popular and have the best reviews, I opted for them.
I do really wish the descriptions were a little more to the point and stated which hair type they were more suited towards, as I'm not quite sure I picked out two products that have worked incredibly on my hair.
If you're wondering about my hair I tend to get slightly greasy roots, but my hair does become drier the further down you go down, which can actually make it difficult to find products that work well. What I will say is that these two products have actually helped the dryness of my hair, but have in a sense worsened the greasiness or the roots of my hair.
On to actually using the products. I do have to first say that my hair gets pretty knotty when using the Argan Shampoo. The conditioner doesn't worsen it, but this is something I haven't had for many years, so I was a little disappointed when it started knotting in the shower. I haven't found it difficult to brush out afterwards though and I think the conditioner definitely helps with that! In terms of smells I like the shampoo - I'm the worst at explaining smells so I won't even try, but it smells nice. On the other hand, I really dislike the smell of the conditioner; it just isn't that pleasant.
Personally, I always leave my hair to naturally dry overnight. So first thing in the morning I always wake up and see the effects of the shampoo and conditioner. Although like I'd said before it actually works well with the drier sections of my hair, and my hair from about my ears down looked pretty good, the hair above this section, focussing in the roots, looked terrible. My roots looked pretty greasy and everything was super flat too - I was already having to use quite a bit of dry shampoo to cover this. Take into fact that I also wash my hair every other day, my hair was incredibly greasy the next day.
It's not all bad though. I have found that after a few uses my hair isn't as problematic. Although it gets very little volume, it's nowhere near as greasy as it was in the first place. I just think maybe it took a little time for my hair to actually get used to the change in products. Although I do change my shampoos and conditioners quite often and have never found this to be the case in the past. I will also say that the rest of my hair still feels pretty soft and has a nice shine to it.
All in all, I found these products to be okay. They're not going to be something that I rave about to everyone, but they're definitely going to work wonders for some people. If you have hair that is on the drier side, I would be recommending these to you in a heartbeat. They really worked incredibly on the drier sections of my hair and left them in much better condition than previously. However if you've got hair which is on the greasier side, I would personally avoid these two products.
Have you ever tried Maple Holistics?
What do you think of these two products?
Lots of Love
